We’re Off to a Great Start

I love the response we’ve had to this blog, so many blogs by the Women in Networking.    This is not just my project, but belongs to the whole group.   My way of sharing what I’m learning, and you can share what you learn together.

In order for this to be more than a list of blogs, but a way to help build up ours and each other’s blogs, involves learning and taking a few minutes on developing our minds and blogs.  I don’t claim to know everything, one thing I’ve been short on is the technical know how.   Recently I’ve been spending time at Marketing Ice. where I can watch videos of professionals on their computers, setting up, modifying, making everything more search engine friendly.   Helps me.   I also know several of our members are experts, with their own articles, tips, etc.   Those are welcome, some WIN members have already sent me links to their material and permission to use here.

We each have our own business to run, families to care for, and anytime you try to do everything all at once, it can be overwhelming.   Some have more more time to devote to their blogs than others.  That is okay.   Go at your own pace, but be consistant.    Visit the other WIN blogs, it’ll inspire you, ideas will sprout forth on what to do with your own.

For a blog to generate income, promote our business, it has to have visitors, the more the merrier.  Those visitors need to be able to see something they like that will inspire them to do business with, or refer others to you.    Have your blog add value to your readers, they’ll keep coming back, and appreciate you.   Make it easy for your readers to keep up with your blog.  Remember, people do business with those they know and trust.

I’m now counting 43 WIN blogs.    You can get lost in that blogroll list.    Thus I’m also placing the blogs in categories, where each blog has their own description post.    An example is Bea’s Beatitudes Blog.   I only have a  small portion of the blogs under categories, I do not have time to write one for every member, and what I write may not be want you wanted to say about your blog.   So this week’s assignment is to write a description for your blog and send it to me along with which category you’d like it in, I can always make new categories if you don’t see one that fits.    This description will come in handy later as you add your blog to the various blog directories.

Homework for this first week:

  • Write up a description for your blog and send to me along with your choice of category.
  • Write at least one post in your blog.  (Extra credit if you do it more than once.)
  • Visit at another member’s blog and comment on one of their posts.  (Again, repeat for extra credit.)
  • If you don’t have a blog, then set one up.
  • Check your link, description, make sure it works, no misspelled words, etc.

Next week, I’ll be adding articles that have to do with what to write in your blog.   If you have any such feel free to add a link to this post or send me the link if you’d like the whole article on the blog.   Also any articles about comments, how to reduce spam comments, commenting in other’s blogs, etc.

Thanks for everyone’s support.

    Thanks, Bea!

You are doing great, commenting, visiting blogs, more comments, encouraging others. What would it be like if everyone followed your example?

    Heidi,

I’ve been stopping throughout the day to visit blogs, what great fun! I’ve been able to say hello at most of them, and have been so busy doing that, I missed the assignment post here.

Thanks for all you are doing, I’ll send along a short something to post soon.

    Have a blessed weekend!!

Thanks so very much Heidi for all your work on this project. I have already learned a lot from how you have so clearly explained the steps to get more traffic to our blogs.

Thanks, it is always great to be appreciated. Sharing what I’ve learned to make it easier for others. Those spreadsheets from Angela do make great butt kickers.

Thx for all your hard work on this, to benefit each of us . . . & for us to then benefit each other. I’m playing a game of catch-up here & will soon get busy on my “homework!”
